Twelve women have been coming to the Community Centre to hook mats. All but three of these women are new to the craft, but in three short weeks they have moved to drawing their own designs. We are having an open house on Tuesday to show the community what we have accomplished. Here are some photos of the women hard at work and also a preview of the hooking. Five of the pieces are already sold!

What beautiful work these women are doing! It is amazing that they are new to rug hooking. I really love the first one, the background, ooh.

What fun! Eager buyers want to know what the ladies are charging.
Just returned from seeing hooked rugs in a very poor village – the las rancheritas project just outside San Miguel de Allende. Hook on, world!

Thank you all for the comments. I am just back in Canada and will soon post some more pictures–of my Kenyan adventures as well as my four days in Amsterdam–one of my very favourite cities.
Sorry Els I missed you! I was in Amsterdam from Saturday until yesterday. Maybe next time!
