Gallery 121 preview

May 8, 2019 by Birdbrain 7 Comments

Here are some photos from the setup of the show at Gallery 121. The official opening is this Saturday May 11, 2:00 to 4:00. Pictured here are my hooked runner, a few hooked pillows inspired by Ton Schulten, two of my bags and a couple of pairs of Bombazine oven mitts. Much more at the show. I would love to see you there.

Thank you so much Els! The potholders, or as we call them, Oven Mitts, have a variety of Japanese and Scandinavian fabrics. They were great fun to make. Christinexo

Love your work, hoping you can comment on the best way to finish your pillows. I have done some hooking and wonder if I can just butt the fabric for the back up to the edge of the hooking or should I whip a cord around the edge to secure the edge loops before adding the backing fabric. Appreciate any advice from you.

Thank you Carol. As for finishing pillows–you can butt the pillow backing fabric against the edge of the hooked front but it is hard to get a straight edge. Next time before you start hooking, sew narrow strips of the fabric to the linen/burlap and hook right up to them. That way you will have a narrow edge to sew the back to and it will be much neater. Write back if this isn’t clear and I’ll try to take a photo.
