anniversary sale and give-away

March 15, 2012 by Birdbrain 43 Comments

As of March 28, the blog at Birdbrain Designs will be one year old. To celebrate, I have decided to have a sale and a give-away. My remaining leather bags and pouches are all on sale. And on March 28, I will draw from all the comments over the next two weeks and the winner can have their choice of a bag or pouch.

Here is a selection of the bags available. Please leave a comment on this post for the draw and email me at xine@birdbraindesigns if you are interested in a sale bag.

I will also have bags and pouches on sale this Saturday at City Revival in Picton from 2pm-4pm. Please drop in if you have the chance.

I remember the first time Carissa introduced us to your wonderful creations. We all had bag envy. Your work is so wonderful and the designs are practical as well as interesting. I have since bought among other things a pouch but I will definitely be purchasing another. There are so many uses for it that I spend a lot of time switching out the contents.

The number of comments and compliments I receive as well when I take it places is not surprising. Ironically mine happens to line up on the one side with the 100% directly over the birdbrain, which everyone at work thinks is a real hoot.

Christine your talent and imagination are inspirational.

The bags are lovely but the red one makes my heart sing. The detail on the outside is a special touch.

Hi Mary Anne. It’s Caryn Phoenix-Renz responding to your post about Christine’s red bag because I love it too and I just happen to be sitting here with my daughter Elise who you taught a few years back. We’re on vacation together and thought we would both say hi! hope you’re keeping well! All the best, Caryn and Elise Renz

Congratulations, Christine, on your one year blog anniversary. As one can see you have accomplished so much. Fireworks is absolutely beautiful! Please put my name in the draw! Hope you had great success at City Revival. If you have a chance, voting for Stirling-Rawdon for Hockeyville 2012 would be greatly appreciated. Visit http://www.krafthockeyville.ca. We are in the final 5! We desperately need the $100,000.00 for the arena upgrades.

    Christine Lady Bird,

I am a teacher and have been inspired by your creative impulse and desire for good results. You inspire me in a number of ways: you have a great eye for line, colour and contour. Your bags have class and style – they are built on valuable principles – you upcycle, there is a push towards unconsumption and they appeal to all ages.

When a person is able to successfully repurpose a disgarded or discounted item it is preceded by ingenuity and innovation. You have what it takes to be a great role model – you are taking old goods and making new ones. You have retired from your porfession of many years and have embarked on a new career, one where I am sure you will find as much success and happiness as you did in your previous one. This greatly inspires me.

I would love to sport around one of your bags – swan around town withe a birdbrain design that is exudes the best thing about femininity and that is strength, a good design, and sturdy parts. Your line of handbags outsmart others for that reason alone.

    Best, Bonnie

Your bags and rugs are beautiful. How great to take something old and discarded and give it new life! So glad I’ve had a chance to meet you and learn hooking from you.

Hi Christine: You have a real talent. I loved the handbags I saw at the City Revival fashion show. Both my daughter and I have a real passion for purses, and we certainly have our share. I have to say, though, nothing beats a shoulder bag or wristlet that is a one-of-a-kind. Also, I have an appreciation for artists who recycle fabrics. Each one of your purses has a story, from the leather to the lining. Looking over your blog, I’m guessing some of them are lined with a fabric you picked up while travelling in Kenya — a nice added touch.

I will also add that I am interested in the mittens you create. They, too, will make great gifts for next Christmas.

    Hi Christine,
I would love to purchase the red bag on offer – larger than the one I have. I have really enjoyed all of the blog info. I just left you an email about trying to get a left handed spoon from Dick. My son loves his and wants another if possible.

    Hi Christine,

I just started rug hooking and found your designs fantastic. I love the simple primitive rug hooking patterns. I especially like how you have incorporated your “bird” into your designs of bags, etc.

    Keep it going.

Christine, congratulations on the success of your blog. I use the little birdbrain pouch I got from you for my knitting paraphernalia and always get compliments on it. That orange leather bag is my favourite. You always offer interesting websites to check out and the art ones may inspire me yet to try to put pen/colour to paper.

    Hi Christine!

What a great way to celebrate a full year of blogging. Many people I know have had similar goals of maintaining a blog and they haven’t had the dedication – CONGRATULATIONS! Also, as I gushed to you before, I love your bags! They’re exactly my style especially the red one followed by the black one followed by the brown/orange one. You’ll have to send me the prices so I can further consider purchasing one.

On another note, I appreciate you sharing your experiences in Matangwe on your blog. I’m looking forward to meeting with you this week to hear more about the trip. I also plan on keeping my eyes peeled for Kenyan influences on your future projects.

Take care Christine and keep blogging

Happy Anniversary. Time sure flies when you are having fun. In between Barbados and Florida (leaving tomorrow), I had to squeeze in a quick comment. You sure have a wonderful offering and a pretty devoted following, it appears. Next to the Wendie blue bag, the fuschia is my favourite. But it is very hard to choose. I really do love them all.

Hello Christine and congratulations on your one year anniversary. You have accomplished much in that year and your journey resulted in such an interesting, colourful and inspiring blog. I spent some time reading past posts this weekend and I now feel like getting busy on the overdue rugs in my life. My girls loved the bags I bought them for Christmas and I am still getting over my orange crush – the photo is great but meeting that bag in person was unforgettable!
